In 1891 Gennaro Sferra opened a fine linens business in the historic city of Venice. The Venetians were known for their love of luxury which extended towards furnishings, clothing, food, and of course textiles. From exquisite hand embroideries to delicate lace bedding, nothing could surpass the classic linens produced by Sferra.
In the early 20th century when immigrants all over the world flocked to the United States, Sferra relocated his operation to Fifth Avenue in New York.
America couldn't get enough of classic, Italian design. The rest, as they say, is history. Today, Sferra continues to provide the finest bedding, bath towels, and table linens.
One of the joys of shopping for Sferra Italian fine linens is that it becomes a history lesson - the rich history of yarn dyed jacquard fabrics that look as alluring in the 21st century as they did 200 years ago. Good design will always look good, and "made in Italy" promises the highest quality.
